Police blotter Fugitive fails to elude police

A Norfolk man was arrested near Langton last week after trying to elude police in Simcoe.The incident began around 1:30 a.m. Friday when a vehicle on Kent Street South in Simcoe attracted the attention of an officer on patrol.The vehicle was subsequently pulled over on West Street.“The investigating officer spoke to the driver of the vehicle who then fled the area and was last seen heading west bound on West Street,” Const. Ed Sanchuk, spokesperson for the Norfolk OPP, said in a news release.“Officers patrolling the area located the vehicle at a Highway 59 address. The male then fled from the vehicle on foot and was taken into custody without incident.”A 35-year-old Norfolk man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from a police officer, operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs or alcohol, and failure or refusal to comply with a demand from a law-enforcement officer.Theft suspect caught on cameraPolice are reviewing surveillance footage after a suspected thief was caught on camera at a construction site in Simcoe.The intrusion on Lynndale Road occurred in the early morning hours of Thursday. Taken from the construction site were an extension cord, a trouble light and a flashlight. Total value of the missing items is pegged at $110.The theft was brought to the attention of Norfolk OPP around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.Pickup stolen in SimcoeA pickup truck was reported stolen in Simcoe last week.The 2006 Chevrolet Silverado went missing from the parking lot of the Comfort Inn on the Queensway East in the early morning hours of Friday.The pickup is silver in colour and was outfitted with a lift kit and black aluminum rims.
